Jamaican rum (HMPDN), distilled in 2014, Mark <h>, aged for 6 years in the tropics and 5 years on the continent, finished for 12 months in our 2003 TDL cask (Salon du Rhum Belgique), single cask of 320 bottles, cask strength, 500 ml
Colour : Golden amber
Nose : A tropical explosion right from the start: juicy mango, ripe papaya and roasted pineapple burst out over a bed of flambéed banana. The unmistakable Hampden funk is loud and proud, with notes of varnish, soft rubber and fresh lemongrass.
Palate : Bold and warm. Exotic fruit leads the charge, think mango-papaya smoothie, caramelised pineapple and overripe banana. Wrapped in a funky canvas, you’ll find notes of fresh herbs, dark chocolate, infused black tea and a subtle smoky twist. The TDL cask finish adds a creamy, almost pastry, softness, with layered spices bringing real depth.
Finale : Long, persistent and full of contrasts. The tropical fruit slowly fades, revealing elegant wood, black tea, gentle nutmeg and a touch of salinity. A return of candied banana lingers on the very end, a playful nod to our first anniversary release, but with more roundness and sunshine.
Conclusion : Our second anniversary release cranks up the fruit dial while keeping the raw, explosive soul of Hampden alive. Brighter, juicier, and just as unforgettable.
