Colour : Rich chestnut
Nose : A heady nose with esters galore with pineapple, bananas, stewed apples with cloves, hairspray, burnt rubber skidmarks on tarmac and a hint of sulphur, plus stewed plums with star anise, vanilla fudge, icing sugar, orange blossom honey and geraniums.
Palate : Chewy mouthfeel with orange blossom honey, vanilla fudge, crème caramel, crème brûlée, plum tarte tatin with Chantilly cream and spun sugar, dark chocolate-enrobed ginger, greengages, Key lime pie, rich banoffee pie and cheese soufflé.
Finish : Lime marmalade on a hot buttered brioche bun.
Nose with Water : Dark chocolate truffles, vanilla fudge, shoe polish, leather armchair, old leather briefcase, vintage typewriter with carbon paper and a new ink reel, graphite powder, pencil shavings, pulpy secondhand paperbacks and a polished anglepoise lamp with a hot bulb on an antique oak desk.
Palate with Water : Deliciously rich and dark with oat biscuits dipped in dark chocolate, butterscotch, toasted teacake with raspberry jam, strawberry shortcake, chai tea, pulpy paper, graphite powder and pencils.
Finish with Water : Dark chocolate-enrobed, hibiscus tea and spiced vanilla latte.
Conclusion : You can nose this for hours, there's so much to discover in this rich and chewy dram. A fantastic Armagnac which will also appeal to rum and whisky lovers.
