White Pineau Lot 73, Rémi Landier’s Cellar, 16% ABV, only 80 bottles, 500ml
« Embark on a flavorful journey, savoring Charente’s Pineau, Modena’s balsamic elegance, and the rich allure of Jerez’s old Amontillado. »
Colour: Rich chestnut
Nose: Deep aromas with rancio and Modena’s balsamic, dried figs, plum and prune jam, dark cherries, blackcurrant mint and strawberry laces, enveloped by old oak, leather, and walnut shells, coffee cake and raisin bread, Amontillado sherry, hints of orange zest and dark chocolate.
Palate: The fruitiness of Mirabelle plums, figs, and nectarines remains, but it now dances alongside aged leather, roasted nuts, and dried fruit. A bit of citrus with waxy lemons and limes, balanced by notes of molasses and caramelized nuts. There is a clear rancio influence, along with Modena's balsamic and old Palo Cortado sherry, cheesecake and sponge cake.
Finish: Sponge cake with fig jam and nuts, hazelnuts, a hint of toffee apple, rich fruits, and spices and the persistent Modena's balsamic notes extend the finish.
Conclusion: A rare Pineau des Charentes that reveals a perfect balance of fruit, wood and rancio, reminiscent of old Sherry.
